Program Description

Students will begin the day with an opening devotion and continue with the following classes:

Catechesis & Recitation – This class will focus on learning and reviewing hymns, psalms, Bible verses, and Catechism selections. Using music and repetition, students will also memorize facts related to other academic subject areas, such as geography, American history, and poetry, etc.

Grammar – Using the Well-Ordered Language curriculum, "students will not merely be able to identify the parts of a sentence, but also will understand how words behave in a sentence. The curriculum is designed for students to actively engage with the grammatical concepts in each lesson, using language skills—reading, writing, speaking, and listening—along with physical movement, songs, and chants. Through Well-Ordered Language’s unique, creative, and orderly method of analyzing the grammatical functions of the parts of speech, students will find the mastery of grammar achievable, meaningful, and delightful." 

Spelling/Cursive – Students will learn and practice New American cursive through copy work selections. Students will also be required to learn weekly spelling words, corresponding with the phonics and spelling rules presented in their grade-level classical curriculum.

History/Geography – Using the Veritas Press history curriculum, students will pursue a chronological study of world history with a focus on early American history from the time of the explorers until the year 1815. Students will use colorful and informative history cards to learn about 32 different events from this period of history, as they continually review a timeline memory song about the events. Additionally, students will read supplemental books, complete fun projects, and make use of a timeline and maps of the region.

At the Grammar Level, there is a great emphasis on memorizing names, dates, places, and events, which will help students gain a valuable tool for understanding how God is working today and what He has done during many past events.

Mathematics – The Simply Good and Beautiful Math program is fun, engaging, and mathematically excellent. The curriculum is designed to cover four lessons per week. Two of these lessons will be taught during class time at Logos, while the other two lessons will be taught by the parent at home. 

Students will need to take a math assessment over the summer in order to determine their grade level placement.

Literature – Students will be reading several books from the Memoria Press Fourth Grade Literature program, in addition to some poetry selections. Class time will involve reading aloud selections from the books and class discussions.

Latin – Using the Song School Latin curriculum, students will learn Latin vocabulary in an enjoyable way with songs, illustrations, stories, games, and engaging activities appropriate for their level.

Note - This class is for students who have already had some exposure to Latin. Newcomers will likely be placed in our introductory Latin class, which uses the Song School Latin curriculum. Here students will learn Latin vocabulary in an enjoyable way with songs, illustrations, stories, games, and engaging activities. 

Students' class placement will depend on their ability level. Please speak with us before purchasing any curricula.
